At-home support
Have you ever heard school personnel use the word “struggling” to describe your child? Sometimes it points to deeper social-emotional needs—but often, it simply means your child isn’t performing “well” in a specific class. That’s where we come in. At DCS, we work directly with parents to create simple, fun, and realistic routines and activities you can do at home to reinforce classroom learning. Each plan is personalized to both the curriculum of the course and your child’s interests, strengths, and schedule—so you can support your child without the homework battles, extra worksheets, or burnout.

Each Parent Support Plan includes this work session as well as the written report.
During this time you will work with our team to understand the written report, collaborate about other ideas and adaptations to the plan.

Our team joins you at home for an hour to help set up the space for student success, work with you and your child at the same time running through different examples and routines we suggested.
*Any location outside Pennsylvania’s Lehigh or Northampton counties will include travel expenses for in-person work.

Your student works with our team to understand the options from the written report, collaborate about more ideas than were in the report, and how to prioritize the options provided.
Parent Support Plans
What we Don’t Do

This is the main way we work with districts to take a reflective look at their curriculum documents, implementation, and revision processes. Those conversations are asset-based not deficit-based and strictly between Demonstra Curriculum Services (DCS) and the districts who hire us. We also strongly discourage you “suggesting” a district use our services as that is a multi-faceted decision between DCS and the district. Most importantly, there is always the danger of damaging the bridge between parents and districts as well as teachers and students with a request like this; therefore, DCS cannot evaluate a curriculum for anyone other than a district.

Whether you like a curriculum in its current form or not does not change the fact that an immense amount of man hours went into its creation, implementation, and revisions. Curriculum documents contain a whole lot of history, overcome barriers, hard-fought battles, and solutions to problems those educators made sure your kids never had to deal with. Therefore, our suggestions for your student and family cannot be weaponized against any teacher or district for any reason. If it seems like this is your goal, we are not a good fit to work together but our team can provide you with a few healthy and productive options to work with your students’ teachers and district.

It would be cruel, unusual, and pretty useless if our team provided you and your family with a list of suggestions and resources that you could not implement in your household. Our team will never suggest you spend money beyond your stated budget, we will never ask you to demand something of the teacher/district for your student, and we will never provide suggestions that are out of your reach in any other way.

The service we offer is not tutoring services where someone would work repeatedly with your student to improve their academic outcomes with a particular curriculum. The service we offer is actually to consult parents on how to support their student with a particular curriculum. Working with the student is an optional add-on service but it is a one-time meeting to collaborate about a plan to implement some/all of the suggestions we provide.

While we can troubleshoot with you about the plan we provide, we will not be in your house carrying out the plan for you. We can provide coaching for you or a tutor while implementing the plan, this is an optional add-on and one you may not add until later in the process. Working with your family in your home is also an optional add-on service but it is a one-time meeting to set-up and/or establish some/all of the suggestions we provide. This optional service is contingent on your proximity to our location in eastern Pennsylvania and/or your willingness to pay for necessary travel expenses.
